Savudrija lighthouseSavudrija lighthouse
The old fisherman's village of Savudrija is on the northwestern tip of Istria, only 8km north of Umag. True to it's geographic position, Savudrija feels as though it's on the edge as the Adriatic beats upon its rocky shores. Originally used as a health resort by the Austrians, Savudrija is continually freshened by circulating sea breezes which makes its offshore waters ideal for windsurfing.

What to See and Do in Savudrija

Savudrija's most famous feature is its lighthouse, built in 1818. It has a truly stately elegance and is surrounded by a restful Mediterranean garden. You can visit the lighthouse or even stay in the Savudrija lighthouse.

Outdoors activities are the specialty of Savudrija. In addition to windsurfing, you can bathe in the sparkling water (but beaches are rocky!), hike on gentle trails, and cycle.
