Croatia is a popular destination for vacationing Slovenians who usually find themselves in Istria or the Kvarner Gulf. Even though there are no direct flights between Slovenia and Croatia, there are plenty of other options. Here they are:

Trains from Slovenia to Croatia

From Ljubljana, there are at least three daily trains to Zagreb that arrive in less than 2 1/2 hours. From Zagreb you can catch a flight to Dubrovnik or travel to Plitvice Lakes National Park and then go on to the Dalmatian coast.

Want to explore Istria? There's a direct train from Ljubljana to Pula in the summer and trains that travel via Rijeka or Buzet the rest of the year.

Driving from Slovenia to Croatia

You can do as the Slovenians do and drive to Croatia. It's so close! From Ljubljana to Zagreb is only 140km if you go via Bobovica. Ljubljana to Rijeka is only 124km. See more on driving to Croatia.
