What makes travel memories unforgettable is the sense that you've gotten beneath the surface and truly discovered a place. Staying in a small B&B like Villa Pape allows you to experience Croatia as a guest, not a tourist. First of all, you can stay in your own apartment if you like. Villa Pape has four-bed and two-bed apartments, each offering a fully-equipped kitchen, a glistening new bathroom, air-conditioning, satellite TV, free WiFi and, best of all, a terrace with a sea view. What a great choice for families! Budget-minded couples or friends can stay in one of the comfortable, modern rooms. And there's free parking. (Read about my stay at Villa Pape)

Your Local Hosts

Located in Ciovo, just outside historic Trogir, Villa Pape is the lovingly-created project of Ira and Boris Rakic. Born and bred in the region, Ira and Boris are brimming with sightseeing ideas and insider knowledge to help you get the most out of your stay. And they can help smooth your stay in other ways. For example, they can arrange a transfer from wherever you've landed--Trogir town, Split airport, Split ferry port. They can organize sightseeing excursions by boat or car or give you a private tour of historic Trogir.

Local Products

As long term residents, Ira and Boris are committed to sustainable tourism. From the artisanal light fixtures and original artwork on the walls to the local produce used in Ira's kitchen, staying at Villa Pape means supporting the local economy.

Cuisine

There are plenty of restaurants in Trogir, but if you'd like to eat what Croatians eat, I recommend arranging to eat dinner with the Rakic family. Ira is an amazing cook and she turns out the kind of home cooking you just can't find in restaurants. She specializes in traditional Croatian recipes made from the freshest local ingredients.

Cooking Classes

Recipes are one thing but having a specialist show you their secrets brings you to a whole other level of culinary skill. To really understand how to turn out Croatian dishes, why not take a cooking class with Ira? She offers one, three or five-day classes (depending on the season) that center on the whole Croatian cooking experience.
