Bicycles on ferries

We are a group of 4 planning a trip in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia in the fall of 2010. We will be traveling by bicycle. We would like to take a ferry from Istria to Venice in early October. I realize that the 2010 schedules are not available yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has information about taking bicycles on these ferries. Thank you!

The general rule for bicycles is that they are allowed on car ferries but not catamarans. As the Istria-Venice ferries are catamarans I would suspect not but you can contact the company directly: http://www.venezialines.com.

I contacted the Venezia ferry company via email at the link you provided. Here is the information I received:

Ferry service in 2010 will run on Saturdays and Wednesdays thru 9 October. The preliminary schedule is:
Departure Rovinj at 07:00 - Transit stop in Porec at 07:30 - Departure Porec
at 08:00 - Arrival Venice at 10:30
Departure Venice at 17:00 - Transit stop in Porec at 19:30 - Departure Porec
at 20:00- Arrival Rovinj at 20:30

Bicycles are allowed on these vessels; there is a maximum of 8 bicycles per sailing, and reservations can guarantee a spot for the traveller and bicycle, although they are rarely full.

The 2009 surcharge for bicycles was 10 Euro.

The schedule and price will be finalized when the route opens for booking in late January 2010.
