Purchasing ferry tickets stateside

We are planning to take the car ferry from Spilt to Stari Grad (August) and know that tickets can only be purchased at a Jadrolinija office. Is there any way to do that stateside (US) or do we have to wait until we get to Croatia. We are planning on taking the ferry the day after we arrive so are concerned that if we wait until then, the booking might be sold out.

Hi Lisa,
No, you can't buy the tickets stateside. First thing to know is that a ticket is not a reservation. Even with a ticket you have to line up several hours in advance. Whether you get the ticket when you arrive or before departure, make sure you get to the dock two hours in advance in August.

To those travelers who are confused about the variety of ferries available, I would highly recommend downloading the complete ferry schedule guide from Jeanne's website. It is a one-stop shop. I spent a lot of time trying to track down schedules for the various hops from island to island and this guide gives it all. Thank you again Jeanne for your help.
