Pozega
Nature Park Papuk
Pozesko-Slavonska (Pozega-Slavonia) County is a small county sandwiched between Brodsko-Posavska in the south and Virovitico-Podravska in the north. Unlike its flatter neighbours the fertile plains of this region are intercepted by mountains, hills, forests and vineyards.
The defining feature of the county is the Pozega valley, a pretty region circled by low mountains and rolling hills. The two main rivers are the Orljava and Londza.
The largest town and county seat is Pozega, a tranquil market town of stately baroque architecture. There are several churches and an interesting town museum. Each year the town comes alive with the world's only Festival of One-Minute Films which attracts filmmakers and ADD sufferers from around the globe.
Another attraction in the region is Lipik, site of a thermal spa that dates back to the Roman era. Outdoorsy types won't want to miss Nature Park Papuk, with its untouched beech and fir forests.
