Croatia is a popular destination for vacationing Slovenians who usually find themselves in Istria or the Kvarner Gulf. Even though there are no direct flights between Slovenia and Croatia, there are plenty of other options. Here they are:
From Ljubljana, there are two direct daily trains to Zagreb that arrive in less than 2 1/2 hours. From Zagreb you can catch a flight to Dubrovnik or travel to Plitvice Lakes National Park and then go on to the Dalmatian coast.

There's one daily train from Ljubljana to Pula ( 4 1/2 hours) that crosses the border at Divaca and stops at Buzet and one early bus. There are two daily trains to Rijeka (3 hours) and one night train.

You can do as the Slovenians do and drive to Croatia. It's so close! From Ljubljana to Zagreb is only 140km if you go via Bobovica. Ljubljana to Rijeka is only 124km. See more on driving to Croatia.
