No matter when you go to Pula, you're likely to find something interesting to do but July is particularly exciting. Pula's massive amphitheatre is usually the venue of choice for concerts, plays and festivals mainly because it holds 22,000 people. During the entire months of July and August the amphitheatre holds a series of concerts, both classical and pop, that attracts the best national and international artists. Named the Histria Festival, I still remember the night that Sting performed. More information.
Held at the beginning of July, national theatre groups fill the streets and squares with productions. The emphasis is alternative theatre (in Croatian of course). More information.
In the middle of July, this is one of the most prestigious events in the Croatian film industry. In addition to Croatian films, a bevy of European films compete for the "International Arena" prize. More information.
