There's only one two-star hotel in Split, the Hotel Zagreb, but you'll do better staying either in private accommodation or in one of Split's fabulous new hostels which are taking hostel design to a new level. A number of them have doubles with en-suite facilities but even the dorms are attractively and intelligently designed with an eye to comfort.
Tchaikovski Hostel

Hostel Emmanuel
Curtained bunks with reading lamps and plugs make this one of the best hostels in Croatia. Only a short walk north of the town center, the hostel offers bunk beds in five and ten-bed dormitories. BOOK NOW
Downtown Hostel
Right in the heart of Diocletian's Palace, the location couldn't be better. Although the four and eight-bed dormitories are mixed, there are individual lights and plugs for extra comfort. There's also a double room available. BOOK NOW
Hostel Dvor
Within a traditional stone house but with bright, modern rooms the new Hostel Dvor is in the Veli Varos neighbourhood. It's an easy walk to the old town and to Marjan Hill. There are doubles with private and shared bathrooms in addition to beds in three and four-bed dormitories. BOOK NOW
Hostel Matejuska
Friendly service, large rooms and a location in central Split make the Hostel Matejuska a standout. There are quads and beds in six-bed dormitories. BOOK NOW
Hostel Simple
This new hostel is well-situated for easy access to Split's old town as well as the ferry port and bus station. There's a double room and beds in four and eight-bed dormitories. Plus, the on-site bar is great for socializing. BOOK NOW
