Hotels
Use an online agency . Unlike hotel websites where all is wonderful, online agencies like booking.com allow you to see reviews by people who have actually stayed there. You can't scam them. Only after a verified visit is a guest invited to post a review. Plus, you get a low-price guarantee (usually the hotel is forbidden to offer a lower price) specific location information (including maps) and instant confirmation. More.
Private accommodation
Book online in advance . Owners of private
lodging in Croatia are not equipped to handle credit cards. Instead,
they insist upon a bank transfer to hold a reservation which can
add up to $30 to the bill. Dealing with an online agency such
as booking.com or Adriagate means you can pay by credit card. The only cheaper
alternative is to show up in your destination and try to negotiate
a deal directly with the owner (who may or may not speak English).
Seasons
Avoid the summer season. The high season
along the Croatian coast begins around the second week of July and lasts through August. If you can avoid this period, you'll
make big savings. Prices can
be up to 40% cheaper just by travelling in June!
