Cres Island is best reached by boat either directly or through Losinj.

International Connections to Cres

To get to Cres from Italy, the best approach is to take a ferry to Mali Losinj and then drive up to Cres.

Domestic Connections to Cres

There are also a dozen car ferries a day running between Valbiska on Krk Island to Merag on Cres.

To see it all, rent a car

From Istria, there are also a dozen or so car ferries a day running from Brestova to Porozine. From Opatija to Brestova it's a 12-mile or 20-kilometer journey.There you catch a ferry to Porozina on the tip of Cres Island. These ferries are operated by Jadrolinija and are not reserved in advance although you should get there at least an hour ahead.

From Rijeka, there are regular passenger ferries that run from Rijeka to Cres town and go on to the islands of Unije, Ilovik and Susak before landing in Mali Losinj. The catamaran is run by Krilo which handles all bookings.

Buses

You can get to Cres Island by bus from Rijeka. There are up to five buses a day from Rijeka to Cres Town that take about 2 1/2 hours. For the schedule and online booking, see Bookaway.
