The two-hour long Split-Stari Grad car ferry is the main link between Split and Hvar Island and as such can be quite crowded in the summer. Passengers should have no trouble boarding, but to get a good seat try to arrive at least an hour in advance. Those with vehicles should reserve at least a day in advance during the popular summer season.

If you get squeezed out, drive down the coast to Drvenik and take the Drvenik-Sucuraj ferry which is the only other car ferry connection to the island. You'll have to drive across Hvar Island to reach Hvar Town after you arrive but it's a a scenic ride.
Foot passengers have more choices, especially in the summer season when the daily Split-Dubrovnik catamaran stops at Hvar. See all Hvar ferries.
