Zagreb's Franjo Tudman Airport (ZAG) is at Pleso, 17km southeast of central Zagreb. There's one brand-new passenger terminal at Zagreb airport opened in March 2017. With 65,000 square meters spread over four floors, the new terminal can handle up to five million passengers a year.

Airport Parking

There are three parking lots offering about 1100 spaces. Fees are from €1.50 to €2.50per hour but parking may not be necessary for drop offs and pick ups.

There's a pick-up zone in the ground floor Arrivals section which allows waits of up to 10 minutes for arriving passengers. For departures, there's a Kiss & Fly zone in front of the Level 2 Departures section.

 

Ground Transport from the Airport

By road
Take route 30 directly into downtown Zagreb
By taxi
A taxi from the airport to downtown Zagreb costs from 100 to 170 Kn, depending on the time of day (evenings, Sundays and holidays are more expensive). You have a choice between three taxi companies: Eko-Taxi, hybrid vehicles; Radio Taksi Zagreb; Cammeo. Each of the above companies has put out a free app to make ordering their cabs easier. There's also Uber which will whisk you into town for €12

By bus to Zagreb
The airport bus leaves every half hour for the 25-minute trip to Zagreb bus station and it costs €4.  From the bus station, take trams 2 or 6 to the train station, the Regent Esplanade ,Sheraton, Palace and other hotels. From the train station, tram 6 goes to Trg Jelacica, Zagreb's central square. See a map of Zagreb's tram network and more about getting around Zagreb.

The city bus line also runs bus 290 to Kvaternikov trg near Maksimir park, stopping in 20 towns and villages along the way, including Velika Gorica. Departures are very 35 minutes.

Jeanne's tip: To save money, I take the bus to the bus station and then a taxi to my hotel. Cheap and easy!

By bus to Rijeka
There's a daily bus from Zagreb airport to Rijeka that leaves at 3.30pm and returns from Rijeka at 5am. The price is €20 and the trip takes two hours.
